Private Equity Firm: Lone Star Funds

Lone Star Funds (Lone Star) is a global private equity firm established in 1995. Headquartered in Dallas – Texas, the firm has affiliate offices in New York, Montreal, Hamilton – Bermuda, Dublin, London, France, Brussels, Luxembourg, Frankfurt and Tokyo. The firm focuses on distressed debt and private equity products.

Lone Star’s principals have organized private equity funds totaling almost USD 24 billion of capital:

  • Brazos Fund: formed in March 1995, capital commitments of approximately USD 250 million.
  • Lone Star Opportunity Fund: formed in November 1996, capital commitments of USD 396 million.
  • Lone Star Fund II: formed in September 1998, capital commitments of USD 1.2 billion.
  • Lone Star Fund III:  formed in July 2000, capital commitments of more than USD 2.2 billion.
  • Lone Star Fund IV: formed in December 2001, capital commitments of more than USD 4.2 billion.
  • Lone Star Fund V: formed in September 2004, capital commitments of USD 5.0 billion.
  • Lone Star Real Estate Fund: formed in December 2007, capital commitments of USD 2.5 billion.
  • Lone Star Fund VI: formed in December 2007, capital commitments of USD 7.5 billion.

The firm’s principals include corporate and public pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, university endowments, foundations, fund of funds and high net worth individuals. Since its inception, the firm has completed more than 900 transactions with a total purchase price of over USD 61 billion.

Hudson Advisors, a dedicated company to the firm, provides loan servicing and asset management services to the assets acquired by private funds sponsored by Lone Star.
