Green ventures, web technology and health care. Those are the most attractive sectors for venture capital projects moving forward, according to Terry McGuire, co-founder and general partner of Polaris Venture Partners and chairman of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA).
New social media ventures and certain aspects of the consumer market are also growing, according to an article posted by Fox Small Business Center.
Although venture capital has struggled over the past 18 months with a dearth of IPOs, the industry appears poised to pull out of the doldrums. Paul Holland, a general partner in charge of clean tech at Foundation Capital, a $2.5 billion firm, says his firm has at least 9 companies ready to go public. Holland says he expects to see more and more investment in next-generation green building and consumer online experiences. “The outlook for companies going public is as bright as it has been in ten years,” said Holland.
